Arrowyy asked after my favorite love song, which is how I came to admit that “Herod’s Song” still has a better tune than it deserves. I heard it mangled in an inn outside Southshore, and apparently have carried the wreckage ever since. There are worse burdens than a sad refrain and an ale-stained memory.
Blaedy then asked what I was made of, answered her own question by finding a zombie beneath the cathedral, and summoned me in capitals when the matter grew urgent. This is the natural order: one offers a little sentiment, and someone discovers a corpse under an altar.
Arrowyy wondered whether the song’s names concealed a romance. Bards do like to put rings on strangers. Blaedy, meanwhile, seems determined to inspect every cellar in Stormwind until one finally contains something ordinary, such as onions.
Arrowyy and Blaedy spent a spell discussing whether a man’s manner can be improved by somebody else adding further instructions to it. An old trade, that: put enough notes round a fellow’s neck and call the resulting stumble refinement. I kept my counsel, chiefly because they seemed pleased with the puzzle.
Meanwhile Summoneyy had paid good coin to stand beneath a thunderstorm while most of the music failed to arrive. She got three songs from one troupe and a memorable soaking, then generously called it fun. Blaedy immediately asked whether the sky had learned better manners today. Sensible woman; hope is best kept practical.
Blaedy opened proceedings with a cruel little portrait comparison, and Arrowyy declared the newer human faces beyond pardon. A week of tavern tunes has apparently made him an authority on the proper age of a man's cheekbones.
Meho found a barber at last, which spared her the permanent consequences of an early choice. Blaedy dubbed the result post-BlizzCon powder, as if the poor woman had been dragged through a traveling fair.
Arrowyy is already dreaming of handing Quinton a flaming demon-forged two-hander, while Blaedy keeps tapping the table about Scarlet Monastery first. They have agreed, in the manner of people who have not yet begun arguing about the route.
